We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Robin Shaw, a Partner in our litigation team, who passed away on 5th September 2025.
Robin joined Wiggin in June 2022 and was undoubtedly one of the UK’s leading media litigation lawyers. He built a formidable reputation for advising some of the UK’s most prominent publications on defamation, privacy and breach of confidence matters. He knew the newspaper industry inside out, combining this insight with exceptional tactical acumen and deep legal knowledge.
It is Robin the person that we will miss the most. Robin was unfailingly generous with his support and empowered his team to learn and thrive. He was wonderfully funny, with a dry sense of humour that could lift any room, striking the rare balance between excellence and perspective and finding genuine joy and fun in his work.
Ben Whitelock, Senior Partner at Wiggin said: “Robin made a huge impact in his time at Wiggin. He was very generous in involving members of the litigation team in his clients and matters and in passing on his huge expertise and experience – all carried out in Robin’s inimitable unflappable manner and with his wonderful dry wit which made him such great company. He will be deeply missed by us all.”
All our thoughts are with Robin’s family.
In due course, we will reflect further on Robin’s immense contribution to our firm and to the wider legal community, by whom he was held in the highest esteem.
